Confidentiality and information security
Confidentiality is at the core of therapeutic work and this extends to how I capture, use and store any personal or sensitive information. This includes any information gathered from clients face to face, via telephone or online.
With regard to sessions held remotely I will not take audio or video recording of sessions and it is a contractual requirement that clients agree not to make any recordings of our clinical work.
Any information you provide concerning contact details, medical history or other sensitive information during an assessment session, or during ongoing therapy, will be kept in hard copy and stored in a locked file. No digital files, containing confidential or sensitive information will be held. Information will be retained for up to five years after the term of therapy has ended after which time it will be securely destroyed.
To maintain the rigour of my therapeutic work I am involved in regular supervision, with a qualified and accredited therapy supervisor. I take notes after each client session to keep a record of what has been discussed and the progress of the work. These notes form the basis of discussion during supervision under terms of strict confidentiality. There may be times when therapeutic work is discussed in other professional settings, for example during a workshop where clinical material is reviewed. In these settings all distinguishing information, including name, medical history, place of work etc will be disguised to ensure full anonymity.
Clinical material will never be made public without your informed consent.
I will not use your personal information for marketing purposes or share it with any third parties.
